Probably the thing that makes Christianity so insulting to the world is that it reveals the ugliness and slavery of sin. On top of that, the bible says that the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). To someone who hasn’t come to the foot of the cross in repentance, getting the death penalty for breaking God’s law seems totally absurd and unfair. Why would God command the death penalty if He’s a loving, merciful God? And why would we be judged so harshly if He says that He loves us? Are Christians out of their minds?

These are the common objections that come up as modern culture wrestles with the truth of the gospel. In my own journey and thinking this through, I have come to realize that not only is God completely justified in setting the death penalty for breaking His law — but sin itself is death and should be taken very seriously.

Today I hope to share a few things with you that I’ve found interesting and profound about sin, death and eternal life.
